Terms & Conditions

The following Terms and Conditions govern the supply of goods and services sold by Book Curate (“we”, “us”, “our”) to the client (“you”, “your” or “yours”) named on the order form/email order provided on our website.

Together with the completed order form for products or confirmation emails for services, these Terms and Conditions constitute the entire and only agreement between us in relation thereto. Our acceptance of your order by delivery of the goods or payment for services, constitutes a legally binding contract between us on these terms and conditions.

By accessing, browsing and/or using this website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree, to be bound by these terms and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Access

Please ensure there is good access immediately outside your home and access inside your home to your entire library collection (e.g. availability to a fully working kick stool or ladder). Book Curate is unable to move furniture due to reasons of health and safety. Should the working area be considered unsafe, Book Curate reserves the right to cancel the session without refund.

Advice

Advice is given in good faith and it is always your decision to accept guidance on whether or not to keep books or possessions. Book Curate cannot, therefore, accept responsibility for the consequences of such decisions. Book Curate cannot be held liable for any possessions or books that have been discarded.

Affiliate Links disclosure

Our website bookcurate.com may contain affiliate marketing or sponsorship links, which means we may get paid commission on sales of those products or services we recommend. You will never be charged a fee for shopping through one of our affiliate links. For example, Book Curate is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk.

Our editorial content is not influenced by advertisers or affiliate partnerships. A disclaimer will appear at the beginning of every blog post mentioning any affiliate partnership or advertisement so that the reader is fully aware of the context behind any recommendation made.

Breaks

Book Curate will always work at your own pace as organising and decluttering can be physically and emotionally demanding. Breaks can be taken as you wish, however, please be aware that these breaks will count towards the duration of the booked session. Should a session cover lunchtime we will need to break for lunch, but you will not be charged for this lunch period. This will be arranged prior to when the session starts so you are aware of timings.

Cancellation Policy

We appreciate you may need to reschedule a session you have booked. All rescheduled sessions must be completed within three months of the original session time and date. There is no charge for rescheduling a session.

Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance of the session will be refunded in full. Should you cancel within less than 48 hours from the start time of your session and are not looking to reschedule your session to another time and date, your deposit will not be returned.

Cancellations made on the same calendar day as the booked session will not be refunded.

Cancellations of rescheduled sessions are not eligible for a refund.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Book Curate offers complete confidentiality and discretion, and we will never divulge information to any third parties without your consent. The handling of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Book Curate is registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) and is fully compliant with all relevant legislation. By entering into a contract with Book Curate you agree that your personal details will be held securely, to be used only in connection with the services carried out by Book Curate.

When our work is complete, we will ask you for feedback and would be grateful for any testimonial that you would be willing to provide.

Cleaning

Book Curate is not a cleaning service and we are therefore unable to provide cleaning services.

Insurance

Book Curate provides in-home services and whilst every care will be taken with your possessions whilst in your home, Book Curate cannot be held liable for any direct or consequential loss or damage. It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate and appropriate insurance for your possessions. Book Curate holds Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Payment Terms

Payment is required within 7 days of the invoice date or in advance of your session booked through this website. Book Curate accepts payment by debit/credit card or direct by BACS. A charge will be added to late payments.

Book Curate is not VAT registered at the present time. We reserve the right to increase our prices at any time. Any sessions booked prior to a rate increase will be unaffected by the increase.

Photography

Book Curate uses before and after photographs to support a client’s personal library development journey, inspire others on this website, and on social media platforms. They are always anonymised; the client cannot be identified through the photograph. We will always ask for your expressed permission to use your photographs in this way.

Recommendations

Book Curate may make recommendations on products and services by third parties. We always do our best to ensure we recommend high-quality products and services; however, Book Curate cannot accept responsibility or liability should the products or services cause you direct or consequential loss or damage.

Removal of items

Book Curate encourages book donations to registered charities and libraries or recycling items where possible. You may even choose to sell your possessions or books that you no longer want to keep.

Book Curate is unable to provide a valuation service, nor do we have the expertise to identify items of special value or rarity.

In any event, books or possessions disposed of are your sole responsibility. Items to be removed from your premises, either for disposal or to other locations, must be at your own discretion. Any disposal will not take place without your authorisation.

The client accepts responsibility for all or any items disposed of in the decluttering process. Book Curate is happy to help with such disposal (e.g. removal to charity shop(s)) if we are able to do so, i.e. for small items at an additional charge. You are responsible for removing larger items that cannot be easily carried in one's hands.

Travel Costs

All services paid for that require an in-home consultation within London (zones 1-6) include travel costs. Outside of these areas travel expenses and additional fees will be charged and pre-agreed before a session takes place.

Working Conditions

You must inform us if there are any hazards in your home that we need to be aware of e.g. rodents, mold, etc. If access is restricted or unsafe, we reserve the right to charge for lost time and expenses incurred.

Working Hours

Book Curate always proceeds with an in-home consultation prior to booking a session. During the consultation, we will work with you to determine how many hours you may require. It is not always possible however to give an accurate estimate and some projects may require more sessions/hours than initially thought, depending on a variety of factors as each project and client is unique.

One session typically lasts up to 3 hours. Should the time of the session go over 3 hours, you will be charged £40 per hour. Book Curate will always inform you when the booked time is up and obtain your permission to continue if you wish to do so.

Book Curate works Monday to Friday 10 am - 5 pm. After-hours or weekend sessions can be arranged.
